I’m once again stuck on the use of words in our modern, eclectic and dyslexic world…

In my world, WORDS do Matter…

Socialism is the Word of the Day… The definition here has not changed over the years…

“Socialism is a political, social, and economic philosophy that advocates for collective or public ownership and democratic control of the means of production (factories, land, resources, tools, etc.), as opposed to private ownership.”

Follow those last four words… “opposed to private ownership”.

Put what ever word you wish in front of “socialism” and… you still get socialism…

The modern-day foray into the belief that Democratic Socialism is different, nicer, cleaner, softer is utter nonsense… Democratic Socialism simply means the electorate was foolish and lazy enough to VOTE for socialism.

I am sitting and listening to the new Democrat Socialist Party(s) coming to life in the US. Some of the most comical ideas are being touted and tossed about as if they are new and bold and feasible ideas.

I note this as info offered in regards to the Democratic Socialists of America…

• DSA believes working people should democratically run the economy and society to meet human needs, not generate profits for a few.
• It combines:Strong welfare-state policies (Medicare for All, housing as a right, etc.)
• Deeper structural changes (greater public ownership of key industries, worker control, etc.)
• It operates as a big-tent left-wing group with various tendencies (from reformist social democrats to more radical socialists).

Whenever I hear socialists (I think of Uncle Bernie) speak of the working people I think they are referencing those that will pay the bills. It wont be the unemployed or lazy or drugged or privileged that carry the load.

Words do matter.
