I always find it interesting how much politics, sports, and anything “team” oriented affects the minds of people. I have written for ages about the lack of respect and friendliness and familial emotion displayed as one either cries or crows. There is almost no middle ground any more. No “common” land between the divergent “sides”.
Ive stated before that political discussion can be respectful:
But I fear our modern world has not learned respect. Respect of elders, respect of the unborn, respect of themselves.
Maybe I’m being harsh? Maybe respect still exists but its overwhelmed by modern, turned on and tuned in life.
I shan’t start listing the frequent displays of angst and disrespect our modern world has come to live with. Nope, not the poor gal that got knifed/ murdered by a mentally ill man out on bail. Not the 14yr old girl that got held, tortured, gang raped and strangled by a pack of illegal immigrants. Not the old man that extended a friendly hand to a group of violent trans, only to be stabbed many times, robbed and left for dead for the princely sum of a few dollars.
There is a theory Ive come across recently that states the world has become demonic. That the “fallen angels” have returned to power. That ManKind’s time has come to an end. That a darkness shall prevail which shall bring much suffering. We know that doomsday predictions are nothing new. The forces of light vs the forces of darkness. The Lord of the Rings or Star Wars, take your pick…
Depending which “team” you support, you view the scene in opposition to those on the other team. We no longer discuss ideas, no, we discuss methods of eliminating those ideas in opposition to our own.
It is becoming more and more common that violent reaction to opposition is considered acceptable, even self defence.
I think we have a long way to go before we come, again, to an Age of Enlightenment. And age of Aquarius. An age where life is sacred.
I know, politics is a downer.
