I am sitting and switching channels between the FIFA World Cup and Newz… It is morning in QLD so I get the end-day newz cycle from the USofA, pick up the UK/ European sadness, and the morning bluez from here in the Land of Aus.
It’s all quite foolish, even farcical.
I have many people I talk to who are on one team, or another. Like the fans I watch in the arenas where FIFA’s WC is being played, it is a matter of huge importance, their team, their team winning, their team not losing.
I watch folks dress-up in colourful costumes, put on silly hats, carry signs and posters and flags and banners and go out and scream and holler and rant and rave…
And its almost a bad as the FIFA WC fans… But I can understand the enthusiasm and passion for the fans watching the Cup…
But this is pure mental illness…

Like the World Cup, not everyone gets it… one old friend posted comments about how boring he finds “soccer”. And I get it, he does not like the sport that takes 90 minutes to reach a nil-nil draw. He is after action, maybe even violence and blood (the reason I like UFC).
But the illness-on-display pictured above is on a higher, more angst filled plane…
And it all becomes farcical… even the resignation of the worse PM the UK has ever seen…
