The Native Iowan

My buddy, Big-Gee, is riding his BMW R1200RT north from LA heading for Seattle.

Gee has kept his bike here in Pasadena for a few years. He bought it on the east-coast and rode it west. He’s on his 4th trip riding the USofA.  He’s done the south-west/ Grand Canyon/ Rockies ride. He did the Cali-rides last May. I joined him for a few day on HWY 1 north and south. Now he’ll do the west-coast north to south. and then back down again.

As a well read and thoughtful guy, he is up-to-date on American politics and has decided he’d wear a MAGA hat as he travels.

Aint he cute?

His plan is to record the reactions he gets from folks as he travels. Sort of a sociological study.

Now, Gee is a big dude. An ex-South African pro-rugby player. Over 6′ and big is body and in smile.

If anyone can pull this off it’s Gee.

He has told me about a couple surreptitious thumbs-up he received, and a numerous stink-eye attacks. He recounted one event where a young waitress verbally accosted him.

I take my hat off to him.

And look froward to his stories.
