The Native Iowan

I use the term “Evil Twin” to refer to siblings born within months of each other. In the old vernacular I grew up with such siblings were referred to as “Dutch Twins”.

I have two sets of Evil Twins in my family. Sons, Don and Paul, both had daughters born in quick succession. G.G. in Feb, Dawn In April. Both are now 10/11. Then Vera and Nova. These two are 9/10. It’s a double set of evil twins.

And its pretty cool.

Dawn and Vera have been with me for over 6weeks. Connie showed up before Cmas with her 4yrold, Brimstone.

It’s been a fun, confusing, entertaining, loud, stress filled family few weeks.

It all ends early tomorrow morn. At 4am we shall hop in the 8seater people-mover and head to the airport for their return trip to the Solomon Islands.

Years back, when the respective moms were with their second child each, we took both G.G. and Dawn and had them here with us. Aim was to give the Moms a break. That period was defined by a fine line between homicide and suicide. Gracie and I have raised soooo sooo many kids we kinda make it look easy… but it sure as shit aint.

So, with the house in shambles, the floors sticky and the tables and chairs covered in debris. I was just thinking “I’ll start cleaning up a bit”, then thought “That dont make sense”. Save it all for when they are gone.

Dont tell anyone but it’ll be very quiet, and even a bit boring without them.
