A Grey Monday

It rained early. I had forgotten how this house puts you in the weather. You’re on the spine of the ridge and any weather traveling hits full-on. We had a couple this morning. Real early. 4am or so. The house gets impacted by wind and rain. The house actually moves. I wake, suss things out. Roll over and listen to the music on the roof. It stops abruptly. Simply goes from full-on to nothing. Then comes again, and again.

Just as I was getting back to sleep (I had every intention of sleeping in today) Paul starts pumping iron under the house.

I thought is was the cat. This cat spends the nights on the veranda. It spent all last night doing hunt-and-kills on the card board boxes and plastic wrappings from the curtains. Lots of noises through the night.

About 530 I’d had enough. I get out of bed planning to toss the damn cat to the dogs. It turns out to be Paul lifting. I very impolitely instructed him to move the gym under his bed room.

Seas are dead flat. We do a  run to Laipari tomorrow. I pick Mark from the BSP at noon.

Gotta get going…
